Such an amazing garden in a great neighborhood known as Burton Community Peace Garden. From one street below to one street above, the combination of art, artifacts, trees and flowers, the Peace Garden offers amazing exploration. Take the little twists and turns to see all the meaningful collections. Then stop at the top to see what's available for purchase to plant in your garden. Closer to summer there's also vegetables to purchase. It's a special neighborhood spot with a lot of history.

Really neat spot! I didn't expect so much art, but dang it was fun to walk around. It's amazing how much cool stuff they have packed in there - plus the actual garden & little plants for sale. Honestly my dream yard.

I left feeling so peaceful and inspired, with a bunch of flower starts to boot! The energy here is unique and alive! Visiting Asheville from Chicago and had to take some plants home after my visit here. What a wonder that someone has so much love for working with the earth and trust in their fellow human to have a honor system, sliding scale plant sale. The types of flower starters for sale are gorgeous and well thought out. I got to have a quick exchange with a person working in the greenhouse to drop off cash, and if they are the person who created this place, hats off to you! I want to be just like you some day.

Located within the Burton Street Community, a historically Black neighborhood in West Asheville, Peace Gardens & Market is a sacred space. Created by Mr. Dwayne and other community members, it's a space with meaning. Walk its paths and you'll find pieces from Black-owned buildings town down now remembered. There are murals honoring Black heroes and others. There are signs of community members who ran for local elections. There's a library, message area, a market, and more. You could easily spend an hour noticing every detail in this unique and important garden. If you go, don't forget to donate to help maintain a space that helps uplift the neighborhood.

Visited 4/1/24 around 6pm. Passed one other family while there. Very eclectic, as well as a journey for the eyes and spirit. I was expecting something similar to traditional garden, however I think we visited a little late in the day and early in the year. From what I could tell this is a memorial, a multifaceted, uniting of community, and a piece of God's earth where you can help by getting your hands dirty planting/weeding or taking home some of His glorious bounty (please donate if you do).
